Reimagining the Downtown Y

The Y loved Zap's results with the Greater Cincinnati Association so much, they invited us to help launch the $30 Million renovation of the Central Parkway location. Through signage and marketing materials, Zaptivity reimagined the familiar, family-friendly YMCA branding with a more focused aesthetic. We respected both the historic significance of the Central Parkway location as well as the current OTR revival, aimed at millennials and downtown professionals.

Expectations exceeded is the best way I can describe the Y’s partnership with Zaptivity. Zap has worked with the YMCA on successful membership campaigns and imaging projects in the past, but this ‘re-imagination’ of the historic Central Parkway YMCA was a grand slam home run! The Zap project team walked with us each step of the way in developing and creating the right imagery and messaging, responding quickly to all of our requests and concerns.

Because of this outstanding partnership we have been able to transform a 100-year-old building into a vital and exciting health and wellness center; membership goals are being blown out of the water. Throughout the almost two year project, from dream to reality, the Zap team went above and beyond in helping us stay true to our brand with fun, creative and engaging twists to reach an even larger audience. Their attention to detail is outstanding!

Keeping CP’s professional, tech-savvy clientele in mind, Zaptivity limited the Y’s color palette, incorporated industrial accents such as brushed metal and wood, featured historic touchpoints, and maximized white space.

Zaptivity’s philosophy was to integrate signage that enhanced the building’s unique blend of historic beauty and cutting-edge technology — avoiding distraction yet adding to everyday usability.
